Panel session Monday October 7, 10.00 to 10.50.
Solving the affordable housing challenge: the roles of cities, government and investors
Many of Europe’s cities are facing an unprecedented shortage of housing, as urban population growth surges. So how can they best meet the challenge? What are the best practices to attract sufficient capital and do public private partnerships offer a solution?
Leading investors and senior officials from some of Europe’s biggest cities will discuss their experiences and ideas during this high-profile panel discussion on the first day of Expo Real.
Solving the housing shortage requires major capital. So what can central governments and cities do to facilitate this and create a win-win situation? What do investors need to meet their expected and required returns. Are tax incentives the answer or would rental regulatory measures, such as compensation for lower rental incomes, encourage greater investment?
